On Friday afternoon Sept. 10, the Flames football and volleyball squads were pumped up and raring to play.  It was the football team’s first game of the season! They got on the board early after a defensive interception by Matt Yoder set up great field position for Jordan (4 passing TD’s) to sling a pass to Will Shetler for a touchdown.  Scott Troyer, Tyler Yoder, and Will ended up with 2 touchdowns a piece. Matt Yoder also had an extra point and a kick return for a touchdown.

Once the dust had settled and the final whistle had blown, the finale score was 37 to 7. “It was good to come out and get a decisive victory our first game,” Ashton Troyer said after the game.  “Overall our blocking, pass  rushing and solid defense is what set the tone for the game” is what Colby Yoder had to say.

The Lady Flames kept the fire burning in volleyball with a quick three-up-three-down victory over the Lady Eagles. The subs picked up for Malinda Hostetler who sat out with back pain.  Destinee Troyer and Krista Troyer combined for some hard spikes, and Stefani Yoder stepped with a nice block as well.  “Kayla Yoder had a tough night setting, but she pulled through and helped lead the team to a wink,”  commented Miss K (our official statistician for the game).

In the end GHA brought home a football and volleyball victory, and we’re looking forward to our next game.
